Brachychiton rupestris AKA QLD Bottle Tree XL - Specimen 6
Brachychiton rupestris AKA QLD Bottle Tree
40cm Pot Width
2.2m height
As a kid, I would see the massive trunks of these trees in their natural environment and just be in complete awe at their other worldly shape jutting up out of the central QLD landscape.
As an adult, I adore these relatively small (compared to the mature giants) kind of wabi sabi in nature gorgeous indoor statement trees. These are everywhere in interior design blogs and are really the tree of the moment.
They should be kept in direct sunlight or indoors in a brightly lit spot. They are semi deciduous so will lose some of their leaves in late Winter/early Spring. Their thick trunks hold a lot of water (they are a succulent tree) so they can be susceptible to root rot. Simply make sure the soil has largely dried out before watering again – this can be a week to two weeks depending on your environment.
