Kurrajong Tree (Brachychiton populneus) in Green Planter with Red and Yellow Abstract Motif
Beautiful, delicate Kurrajong tree. Look at the pictures. I'm smack out of ideas for a blurb. Wait! I put this tree in this pot because I thought the shape of the leaves complemented the recurring abstract motif.
Height:2240mm
Pot Diameter: 430mm
Leaf Spread: 550mm
Native to the dry bush and open forests of eastern Australia, where summers are warm, rainfall is irregular and the tree is well adapted to dry spells.
With plant care, we are trying as best we can to emulate the plant’s natural environment in our homes.
Bright Light Indoors. This tree loves light, so place it in your brightest spot, ideally near a sunny window where it can enjoy some direct sun. Too little light will cause weak, leggy growth.
From spring to autumn, when the tree is actively growing, water thoroughly and then allow the top 5 to 10 cm of soil to dry out before watering again. In the cooler months, growth slows, so pull back watering and let the soil dry out more between drinks. The Kurrajong is a tough, drought-hardy tree that stores water in its trunk, so it is far more forgiving of a missed watering than of too much water. Always ensure the soil never sits wet.
Kurrajongs can be semi-deciduous, so some leaf drop during dry spells or after a change in conditions is natural and nothing to worry about. New growth will follow as conditions improve. Try not to move the tree around too much, and keep it away from cold drafts and air conditioning vents. Wipe the leaves occasionally to remove dust, and rotate the pot every so often for even growth.
