Mexican Bottle Tree (Bursera fagaroides) in Brutalist Concrete Conical Planter with Steel Stand

Sale price$1,680.00

The rough cast concrete of the Brutalist vessel (almost a sculpture in itself) mirrors the rough bark of the beautiful, fragrant Bursera fagaroides. A beautiful pairing.

Height: 1200mm

Pot Diameter: 500mm

Leaf spread: 900mm

Native to the seasonally dry forests and rocky slopes of Mexico, where summers are warm and wet and winters are cool and dry.

With plant care, we are trying as best we can to emulate the plant’s natural environment in our homes.

Bright Light Indoors. This tree loves light, so place it in your brightest spot, ideally near a sunny window where it can enjoy some direct sun. Too little light will cause weak, leggy growth.

From spring to early autumn, when the tree is actively growing, water thoroughly and then allow the soil to dry out almost completely before watering again. This emulates the summer rains of its native Mexico. In the cooler months, the tree goes dormant, so pull back watering right down and keep the soil mostly dry. During this dormant season, the tree naturally will lose its leaves and may look bare, but this is completely normal. New leaves will return in spring as the weather warms. Always ensure the soil never sits wet, as the swollen trunk stores water and is prone to rot if overwatered.

The Mexican Bottle Tree is prized for its thick, swollen trunk and its papery, peeling bark, which adds sculptural interest even when the tree is leafless.
